The following lesson cancellation, reschedule and payment policies are to be followed by all please, regardless of how you pay for lessons.  If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to converse with Maria.

Fees and Payments

  • 30-minute Lesson = $40.00
  • A lesson period is assigned to each individual student and is of value to no one else, therefore it is important that you are responsible for prompt attendance at lessons. It is not possible to extend the lesson period if you are late, reschedule the lost time or refund any part of the lesson fee.
  • Those who are paying for a full term of lessons up front are eligible for a 5% discount. The fee payable will be stipulated in the newsletter each term and must be paid by the 2nd lesson of each term. It is not possible to choose the number of lessons you will attend, then apply the 5% discount from that figure.
  • For weekly or fortnightly payments, cash is preferred.
  • YVSM charges a yearly school fee of $120.00 for vocalists and $80.00 for all other instruments. YVSM require payment of school fees upfront at the beginning of the year.  School fees cover the costs of overheads such as admin, printing, recording, filming, music streaming, Internet, sheet music, concert expenses, etcetera.
School fees are separate from lesson fees and are not subject to discounts.  If you decide to discontinue with tuition, school fees are not refundable.  School fees will be invoiced at the beginning of the year.

Please note:  If you are unable to pay school fees upfront (e.g., due to financial hardship), please contact Maria to arrange a payment plan.

  • Yarra Valley School of Music requires all clients to provide credit card details at the beginning of each financial year. Your card will only be charged if you have failed to pay for a cancelled lesson/s within 7 days of cancelling the lesson.  Please be aware that if your credit card is charged, this will also incur a 3% surcharge.

Lesson cancellations and rescheduling

  • We require a minimum of 24 hours notification for lesson cancellations. If a lesson is cancelled with short notice (less than 24 hours), the full lesson fee will be charged, with no reschedule available. You will receive a grace period of 7-days to pay for your cancelled lesson before your credit card is charged.
  • If you need to reschedule, it is your responsibility to contact us to arrange a mutually convenient time. We will endeavour to be flexible whenever possible.
  • Lessons cannot be rescheduled (or carried over) into the next term/year. They must be made up within the same term in which they are cancelled.
  • If you cancel a rescheduled lesson, you will be charged the full lesson fee, and the rescheduled lesson will be forfeit.
  • Due to the fact that make-up lessons are only available in other cancelled time slots, please understand that due to the sometimes short notice nature of cancellations it may only be possible to provide a make-up lesson online.
  • Yarra Valley School of Music reserves the right to uphold and enforce its policies in all areas. By checking the boxes of our Terms and Conditions Agreement you agree to respectfully abide by our policies and understand why these are in place.

FOR STUDENTS/CLIENTS PAYING UPFRONT

  • Each student is entitled to 2 rescheduled (or ‘make-up’) lessons per term.  Rescheduling is only available if you have provided at least 24 hours’ notice that you will be absent from a lesson.  After these two reschedules, if any further lessons are cancelled, then they are forfeit and payment will be required for those lessons in order to keep your booking.

FOR STUDENTS/CLIENTS PAYING WEEKLY

  • Each student is entitled to 2 cancellations/reschedules per term.  Cancellation/rescheduling is only available if you have provided 24 hours’ notice or more that you will be absent from a lesson. After these two reschedules, if any further lessons are cancelled, then they are forfeit and payment will be required for those lessons in order to keep your booking.

Refunds

  • Refunds or carry-over lessons are not available. You will only receive a refund or a carry-over lesson if your teacher has been unable to fulfil the lesson/s after every effort has been made to reschedule the lesson.
